Just like multitasking, paying attention to what one is saying while they are saying it can be a huge challenge. As I said in this video, even native speakers make these mistakes.
Not to worry!!!!!!

Steve

U r right, what about slang ???
I remember that when a meeting got very ugly i naturally used really soft slang and everything got back to normal…
my answer is witch of this soft slang word might be usable in a meeting???

The best approach is to be able to differentiate between different formalities of English!
Hope this Helps!

thank you…i learned again…i used to use “with regards to” and i never thought it’s wrong…
dfontoura39 commented on January 26, 2009 at 9:53 pm
Steve, I think couldn’t understand the “with regard to” part. I mean, this expression is new for me. See the example I give to see if I understood how to use it: “I am writing this letter with regard to answer your question …”
By the way, thank you very much for your videos. They are very usefull.
dfontoura39 commented on January 26, 2009 at 11:24 pm
I think I got it! The right way would be: “I am writing to answer your question with regard to our budget …”
I hope it’s right!
Muito obrigada!
Regards from Brazil

You are absolutely correct, of coarse, about the “fewer” vs. “less” but as a native speaker, I believe that in everyday conversation we worry less about the grammar and just getting the message across. Also, it has absolutely become part of American culture! Its just how we are. Just the same with how the British say “ought” and “ought not to”. Culture. But good videos none the less.

Sean
