Praise Love…?

Posted by lieguy on 29 July 2010

The theme of the Plato’s symposium was to "praise Love".
In that work there is one of the most descriptions of Love (Eros) by Socrates. http://etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/p/plato/p71sy/symposium.html
I ask you Philosophers of Yahoo thousands of years later to do the same thing. Grab a glass of wine and find the most beautiful reasons why we should praise Love.
I was quite impressed by the answers in my other questions so I’m really looking forward to your answers.

Here’s a poem I wrote a few years ago that praises erotic love:

    My Gaze

There is nothing to think about.
    Your arms are bare.
Slip out of your blue jeans
    so that your legs too
    can feel the air.
    I want to see you
clothed only in shadow and light.
I want to explore the grace of
    your moments and gestures,
the sensations of your body’s textures,
    to be the hero of
    your erotic adventures.
    And when I’ve kissed you
    and pinched you,
    stroked you and fingered you,
    licked you and bit you
    and felt you till
    you are ready for me
as the sky is for a tree,
then I’ll roar as I enter you
    and together we’ll ride
on the neck of a dragon
or the back of a dolphin
    through living moist caverns,
    through tunnels of loving,
with your warm breath on my lips,
    with heat where we touch
with my hand on your belly,
    with our nerve endings ablaze.
    Can you feel all this
when I give you my gaze?
